Court sends Councilor Mahesh Sharma to 6-day police custody in extortion case
The investigation into the Kasba hotel murder case has taken a sharp turn with Kolkata Police revealing new details about the sequence of events. At a press conference in Lalbazar on Monday, Joint Commissioner of Police (Crime) Rupesh Kumar said the accused, Dhruv and Kamal, had met the victim Adarsh just a day before the killing through a dating app.
According to police, the three men checked into the hotel the next day and spent several hours drinking and eating together. During the party, a dispute reportedly broke out over money, triggering a sudden escalation of tension inside the room.
Rupesh Kumar stated that the altercation soon turned violent, leading Dhruv and Kamal to kill Adarsh. After committing the crime, the duo allegedly fled the hotel with Adarsh’s mobile phone, cash and ATM card.
Police said the investigation is progressing rapidly, with teams examining digital footprints, hotel CCTV footage and financial transactions to build a complete picture of the events that led to the murder.
